GSRC Bookshelf Benchmarks

The GSRC Bookshelf project has had a number of people working on new translations of old benchmarks. Placement is one of the more active bookshelf slots. On this site, we have the following.

MCNC Standard Cell placement benchmarks, featuring row spacing equal to cell height, and also with row spacing removed.

Placements for each circuit by the standard cell placer Feng Shui 1.1 are included; for the problems with no row spacing, an aspect ratio of 3.5 was used. Placement results are in the table below. The first group of results are for spacing equal to cell height, while the second group has spacing between rows eliminated. The "space" value is the percentage of white space in the resulting placement (not all rows are of uniform length, so a bit of excess area is consumed). The scaling for these benchmarks is equal to the scaling used in TimberWolf files! This means that dimensions for fract, struct, and biomed are twice those of the original MCNC YAL/VPNR files, and the dimensions for golem3 are four times those of the original IBM files.
